Don't worry, there won't be flannel, or rather, there won't be much flannel.

Set my feet up as b.a.i.t.

I haven't been posting that much this week. So you might have noticed. School starts tomorrow thus this past week I've been trying to get done or do whatever it is that I want. Which apparently didn't include blogging...Hmm...
Regardless of how I've spent my week, it's a telltale sign of things to come. Hunkering down with textbooks and being in class and not having so much free time. Sigh. Okay, done whining.
Check out my shoes! Aren't they cute? I found these shoes via Selective Potential's blog which lead me to the b.a.i.t. footwear website.

No my dog isn't wearing a muzzle. It's a gentle lead so he doesn't drag me across the pavement when he sees a squirrel.

Bang, Bang

What I've got here is a dress over a dress. Neat-o, huh?

Dress: Target
Dress under green dress: Forever 21
Belt: Gift from my Mum
Shoes: Payless

Look how excited I am over my bangs hanging in my face. I'm trying to grow them out and right now there are at that annoying length where if I don't pull them back they practically blind me. I constantly braid them or twist them or pin them back but sometimes I just want to be lazy. Anyone have any suggestions for getting through this awkward period?

Sunday Funday

Happy Sunday! This has been a great relaxing weekend. We got to lay around a bit. I got my hair cut. There was a visit from my sister. We hit the State Fair and had our fill of Croatian chicken, a blooming onion, fries, and an elephant ear. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures. It was raining and...I'm not really a picture taker. Besides, all you would see is my husband and I stuffing our faces.

I love this skirt just for the sheer volume of it. I could wrap myself up in it and be warm. Especially with this cooler weather.

The Red of Autumn Appears

Summer is winding down. Boo. I feel like I just started to enjoy summer. And now we are preparing for school and feeling the cool down at night and seeing the leaves change color. Yes, the leaves are changing color.

This dress is a little bit short. For work. I added a skirt underneath to make it more work appropriate. The affect I like. Next it might just be pants under a dress. Louis Vuitton is bringing that look back on the fall runways...which as you all know, means the look will appear in the Yoop next.

Dress: Gift from my Mother
Skirt: Maurices
Cardigan: Target
Belt: Kohls
Shoes: Maurices
Necklace: Gift from a friend
Watch: My husband's, Fossil
Sunglasses: Target

So do we now start to pull out the fall colors?

Race Me

This past weekend was the Bark River U.P. Offroad Races! So I thought I would talk a bit about what to wear in the dirt and the dust. Because the races are all about dirt and dust. And trucks and buggies on a dirt track full of jumps and tight corners, in case you don't know what the races are. Here's a link to learn more: www.upoffroad100.com

In my part of the country this is a pretty big weekend. It's a whole weekend of sitting on a hill in the sun, dirt, ingesting alcohol if you happen to be that age, and meeting everyone you have ever known.

So all those factors mean dress simply and probably avoid white.

The truck behind me is what would race out on the track. And see that drain underneath it, the land was sloped down to it and the drunk people kept sloshing their way down to it. Liquid always runs downhill.

Tank: Kohls
Shorts: American Eagle
Shoes: Payless

A light blouse like this was actually amazing to be wearing out in the hot sun. With a tank underneath, it didn't cling or show sweat (not that I do that...).

I also wanted to include in this post my sister, who is wearing something much more Bark River. And awesome.

She is wearing a vintage off road shirt. Between the two of us we have quite a few from the early nineties, and a few older ones from parents and aunts.

Bark River is a much more t shirt and jeans sort of place. And seeing her shirt made me think I should dig out some of my old racing shirts and see what I can do with them...Maybe by this weekend you might see something.

Summer Flannel

This is a pretty sweet dress. A whole dress of flannel. Perfect for the U.P. right?
I'm wearing summer flannel. Is that a thing? My grandpa wears flannel in the summer when he works, so if he does it...that's the fashionable thing, right? Maybe not. Maybe in the U.P.

Dress: Thrifted
Sweater: Maurices
Belt: Forever 21
Shoes: Payless
Necklace: American Eagle

Say it with me, in a long drawn out sigh, it's allllmoooost the weeeeekend.

Nondescript

Can anyone believe how it's August already and those of us school bound must think of that. School. My sister and I shared a nerdy moment the other day when we confessed how much we missed school shopping. Notebooks, crayons, cool backpacks, neat-o pencil boxes...sigh. School shopping. Oh yeah, and your mom paying for it. Did your mom buy you new clothes but you were not allowed to wear them until school started? I hated that. New clothes always beg to be worn, like now.

I don't think this color on me is the greatest, but I love that orange belt and the fit of the skirt. It's a super comfy outfit for a hot day.

Shirt: Thrifted
Skirt: Old Navy
Belt: Vintage
 Necklace: Maurices, I think
Shoes: JC Penney
Watch: American Eagle
Earrings: Gift from my mother-in-law, but easily found at Younkers

And now I end this blog post and get back to all the reading I have promised myself to get done before school. And see as much sun as I can....

The Lake

I'm back! I had a delightful, relaxing vacation and now it's done.
So here is the only outfit photos I made my husband take over vacation. I only really hung out in my swimsuit most of the time and didn't bring much for clothing except shorts and tanks. But I looked in my suitcase and pulled this together...and found the hat in a closet. We should bring hats back by the way.

Dress: Forever 21
Shirt: Thrifted
Belt: Forever 21
Shoes: JC Penneys
Hat: found in a closet at the cottage

And here is a few shots of the things I liked over vacation. If you follow me on Twitter you would have seen more...

Vogue and fishing, who knew they could go so well together.

Where we were staying had a couple old tea cups and I loved them for some reason, though they held only about half of what a coffee mug would hold. I want to collect them now.

I did alot of reading if you can't tell.

Some flowers my husband got me!

So have you all been watching the Olympics? You better be. I'm not one for sports. But with the Olympics...I don't know what it is. I can't look away.
