Don't worry, there won't be flannel, or rather, there won't be much flannel.

Neon

It's summertime, well...close enough. With summer comes bright colors and this year brings in the brightest...Neon.
I am loving these colors, which is a big deal for someone who always goes for the deeper, rich colors, like plum and turquoise. Think of those highlighters you used to highlight all that important info for school. School may be out, or close to it, but those colors are hanging around, in clothes, nail polish, and accessories.

Here is a cute top from Charlotte Russe, definitely rock this in the summer time, hanging at the beach, with jeans, or a cute skirt. Don't forget to balance. One neon piece an outfit is all my eyes can take. Jeans, shorts, jean skirts or a neutral colored skirt are a perfect complement to this look. But you are all U.P. girls, whatever delights your eye I cannot deny.

Afraid wearing neon that you will look like someone on the side of the road picking up garbage or on your way to a rave? Wear neon in your accessories. My favorite right now: nail polish. It is so fun. I can't tell you how many compliments I have received wearing neon green.
I have tried yellow, and after about four coats it still didn't cover that well, but the green covered awesome and the pink, rocking it on my toes as I write. Orange is next for me.

Most nail polish designers have the brights right now and are pretty easy to find. Walgreens has a delightful selection that I will have to hit up again for that orange.

Another way to not be overwhelmed by the brights: layer. I will always advocate layering. The top above could easily be worn under a fitted blazer, perfect for the rainy day. Too warm for that, try another tank, maybe something sheer, or one that will let the neon peek out at the edges.

Currently I am looking for some neon socks. Hue does have some cute ankle socks, but I am looking for mid-calf length so I can...are you ready for this? wear them with my heels and boots. There will be more to come on that, but for now...

Have fun with the neon fashions, my U.P. friends.
